In May and June during our focus effort on topics related to vascular neurosurgery, we would be remiss if we didn’t recognize that May is National Stroke Awareness Month. To this end, we wanted to highlight that on May 9, Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-Ohio) introduced a resolution, H. Res. 366, designating May 2019 as “Stroke Awareness Month.” Even though today is the last day of #StrokeMonth, we wanted to take the time to thank Rep. Beatty for her resolution which has encouraged more support for educational efforts, services, coordination and advocacy that will enhance public awareness of stroke. Since neurosurgeons play a crucial role in the treatment of stroke the AANS and the CNS have endorsed this resolution.
