Most people aren’t aware that by 2025 the nation faces a huge shortfall of doctors — including 37,000 to 60,000 specialists. Since Neurosurgery Blog has spent the last month focusing on graduate medical education (GME), we wanted to take a moment to highlight medical resident “Match Day” and the looming shortage of doctors. Complicating this physician shortfall is the freeze on the number of Medicare-funded GME residency slots. Featured below is an animation we developed which explains everything you need to know!
