Last year, Congress made significant progress toward a permanent repeal of Medicare’s sustainable growth rate (SGR) payment system. Unless Congress acts, physicians face a 21 percent Medicare pay cut on April 1, 2015. The AANS and CNS, together with rest of the medical community, are urging Congress to continue the progress already made toward replacing the flawed SGR formula. To that end, on Feb. 4, 2015, physicians from across the country will converge on Washington, D.C. in a “virtual lobby day” to stress the importance of passing a permanent SGR fix by the end of March. To bolster this effort, we are urging neurosurgeons to participate using email, phone calls, Twitter, and Facebook.
The simple message is: Fix the SGR Now! So pick up your phones and call or email your elected officials, click here to access a congressional directory of U.S. House and Senate members. You can also post messages to Twitter or on the Facebook page of your member of Congress. To maximize effectiveness, remember to use the hashtag #FixSGR on both Twitter and Facebook posts.
