The many Faces of Neurosurgery provide patients with access to critical medical care, often during extremely challenging environments or enormously stressful conditions. Praveen Mummameni, MD, professor and Vice Chair at UCSF is one of these Faces. Dr. Mummameni provides specialized spine care to many who suffer from back and neck pain as well as other disabilities related to spinal disorders. Recently, one very extraordinary patient accessed medical care with him for debilitating back pain that threatened her vital work. Sometimes the written word just can’t convey the full impact of a story, I would prefer to let this patient share with you directly how one neurosurgeon helped change her life.
This video illustrates the importance for patients to have timely access to quality neurosurgical care. For his contributions to Gloria Lyon’s treatment which allowed her crucial work to resume, we honor Praveen Mummameni, MD: one Face of Neurosurgery.
